respecting spouse's sentiments

Chicken Broth, Beef Tallow, and Respecting Sentiments

We were staying at 116, 5th cross, Jayanagar, when I was young and we had two neighbors, one Mr. Jaganath, and another Mr. Srinivas. Both met with an accident while riding on a scooter and suffered several injuries. Mr. Jaganath, was a non-vegetarian and an athlete, and Mr. Srinivas was a vegetarian and a bit of an introvert (lazy?). After the accident, we were surprised to see Mr. Jaganath, up and walking around within a few weeks, while Mr. Srinivas, took several weeks even though he suffered injuries much less than his partner Mr. Jaganath. My parents and cousins concluded that exercise and non-veg was the key. Now, hold on, if you think Non-Veg is the key you may want to change your opinion after you read this article.

Around the same time, I used to suffer from breathlessness and asthma. As years passed by these two problems increased. As it was affecting my studies and concentration, my dear mother, thought of giving me chicken broth. Probably, a friend must have told her. She discussed this with my father who was non-committal and my mother checked with a few people on how to get fresh chicken broth. After a bit of deliberation, I told my mom, I cannot bring myself to kill an animal and eat its flesh or its broth.

But, my minor trysts with Non-Veg does not end here.

When I was BYU, USA, I used to occasionally eat at BYU Cougareat. After several enquiries one youngster at the counter probably just to get rid of me, told me the beans dish was veg. Later, when I met a classmate at the restaurant, he asked me how come you are eating this?? I then realized unknowingly I had eaten non-veg for a few times. USA has 89% of population which is Non-Veg! Are all in USA strong in mind and body??

Time moves on, I got married, and my wife was a non-vegetarian. On coming to know of my sentiment about non-veg, she completely gave up on non-veg and became a complete vegetarian. Twenty seven years into marriage and still a Vege.

When young, I did not have chicken broth because I thought let me live my life whatever the loss and suffering without killing any animal.

I thought I will do what I think is right. In the same vein, when I thought it is worth a try, I tried Mantena diet even though many around did not actively encourage nor participate. In fact, one of my relative told me she did not like Mantena because he was wearing a lengthy shirt and was not impressive. I have never heard of such a poor yardstick used to assess others who have proven records, probably they are not equivalent to marks card.

I was past my 50’s when I started following Mantena Raju gari diet suggestions and advice, and I had the best time of my life. And, I realized I was 100% correct.

A diet with no salt, less oil, and no sugar, had miraculous effect on my health.

I completely stopped my BP medicines. And, my constant longest companion ‘asthma medication’ is constant. I dream of stopping it also completely. But, that looks difficult. The reason is I follow Mantena Diet only partly.

I am sure if I had decided to have chicken broth, with all the steroids and antibiotics, I would have graduated to chicken rolls and chicken burger and biryani, and in later years, it would have been able difficult to get to Mantena gari diet. And, I would have had a host of health issues.

By following Mantena diet, one thing I am sure about is this will be my diet as long as I am around.

But, the moot question is does Non-Veg give you more strength? I mean silent strength.

When I had covid last year, I just slept for three days drinking only water. On the fourth day I was up and about. Even during the first two days of covid fever was at its peak, I knew I was in control.

After, switching to Mantena diet my mind never gets weak. I always have that silent strength. I have experienced this first hand. Even with all the idiocracy (low intelligence) around us, I never lose hope and faith in life. I don’t go after any ashram, or mutts, or swamiji nor do I have idols or Gurus.

But, first, let us talk about resistance to common illnesses etc. and then importance of food for professional success.

My Grandmother, being a widow and of old age, used to wear a simple saree and almost no woolen clothing during most of the winter. She never got sinus, cold, or frequent seasonal illnesses. I have seen her cover herself with a shawl only occasionally in mid winters. Her secret? Sit in the Sun anywhere between 9.00 am to 10.30 am for a good 40 minutes. Another secret was, peanut powder daily, and OMAD. And a clove, a day.

One of my aunt, ate small meals and snacks, lived up to 80 years, and she stung like a bee (I mean sharp as a tack) and floated like a butterfly, almost till the last phase of her life.

So, the list is:

  • Sun
  • 50 gm Peanut daily
  • A Clove a day
  • Frugal strict vegetarian meals

One of my uncle, lived up to 97 years, eat modest meals, did adequate walks, soaked up sun, also had fruits as a major portion of his diet. He is the only person I have known personally, who has lived up to 97 years. Fit as a fiddle till he was in his 80s. Read the entire newspaper on a daily basis till past 90s.

So, the list now is:

  • Sun
  • 50 gm Peanut daily
  • A Clove a day
  • Frugal vegetarian meals
  • Fruits

Some of the best ideas I have had is early in the morning. This is after I complete all the ablutions, and do my pranayama. After observing many people and reading, I have come to the conclusion that every individual is dependent heavily on his / her breathing pattern. Discover the right breathing pattern for you, and stick to it, you will have a good life. So, the list now is: [I have added best videos of each topic]

Many a time I have heard people eat non-veg for the strength it gives. But, let us carefully think about this. What do we need today? Sensitivity. It is not brute strength. It is ideas which create opportunities. For that we need to be sensitive to our surroundings, sensitive to climate, sensitivity to sustained clever marketing of harmful products, sensitivity in our work. Not just strength. We need sensitivity and the “strength which maintains that sensitivity”.

If we eat food which is the flesh of a living animal which has been killed in cold blood, how can it give us sensitivity?

It is up to you to chose!

Line Job Vs other Jobs

Let me introduce a new aspect. Line Job vs Other Job.

A line job is one which involves accountability for the actions taken. Like a police station inspector. Or a bank manager. Or a startup founder. A staff job is one which is advisory in nature and supportive to the line job.

Line jobs are unique. Much of success potential is in line jobs.

Now, let us see which diet allows you to have maximum chances of achieving success.

For this we will consider four people we all know.

Modiji, Amit shahji, Virat Kohli, and Mantena garu.

All four are vegetarians are all high achievers. All work hard, Mantena garu works 14 hrs every day, without break. No holidays no Sundays.

Modiji and Amit shahji work late into the night. And, their work highly strenuous, and tension filled.

And, we think non-veg is a must for hard work.

So, what does a line job demand from an employee?

Hard work, (1) a calm sensitive mind even in adverse, or tiring or demanding situations, at (2) the same time sensitivity to spot opportunity.

One and two seem contradictory.

That is what a raw diet will give you. An ability to see the forest and work on trees at the same time!

And a sage like disposition!!

It is 29 years of our marriage, my wife has respected my sentiments. Till now, that is.
