These aren’t just cinematic classics — they are personal experiences that have stayed with me. Some made me laugh, some made me think, and a few reminded me of my childhood, especially the ones my mother insisted I watch.
1. Mayabazaar
A magical classic that effortlessly blends myth, comedy, and drama. The special effects still impress me to this day, but it’s the emotional core and timeless charm that make it unforgettable.

2. Missamma – A Classic Par Excellence
A beautifully written and executed film. The chemistry between Savitri and NTR, the satire, the music — everything just works.
My mother wanted me to see this. She somehow thought there was something important for me to learn from this movie.

3. Gundamma Katha
The ultimate family drama-comedy with unforgettable characters. It captures the Indian joint family setup with wit and wisdom. Based on Taming of Shrew.
My mother insisted I watch this too — and she was right. It teaches humility, patience, and wrong attitudes can land us in trouble.

4. Mutyala Muggu
A visually rich and emotionally deep film. The music and poetic storytelling make it one of my absolute favorites. It’s also one of the few films that made me appreciate the aesthetics of Telugu cinema. Rao Gopal Rao’s dialogue delivery is unparalleled.

5. Appu Chesi Pappu Koodu
A hilarious satire on dowry and pretentious lifestyles. The comedy is gold and still feels relevant.
Another one my mother thought was “essential viewing.” There was always something she believed I’d learn from the madness and messages in these stories.

6.Paatala Bhairavi
A grand fantasy tale with spectacular visuals for its time. It captures your imagination and reminds you why folklore and cinema go hand in hand. Nizam Cheppa Mantara Abaddam Cheppamantara, the iconic one liner by the hero is a test every one of us ask ourselves everyday.

7.Paramananda Shishyula Katha
This film is an absolute laugh riot, with an ensemble of all the leading comedians of that era.
But more than the comedy, it gave us what I think is the best single movie line of all time:
“Pedda Manishi vaade ra, Kodi Manishi kaadu ra.”
(“A respectable person is one who does not behave in a petty way.”)
That line has lived with me for years. It’s profound.

8.Donga Ramudu
A film about social justice and morality. The story is powerful, and it shows how one man’s good intentions can challenge a corrupt system.

9. Kshana Kshanam
A genre-breaking thriller that brought a modern tone to Telugu cinema. Sridevi’s role and the slick narrative were years ahead of its time. Ram Gopal Varma’s last good film.

10. Swamy Ra Ra
The unadulterated craze for money — shown with wit and boldness.
What I love most is how the ending reminds me of Mackenna’s Gold. The hero and heroine discover a bag full of cash in their car dickey. It’s both ironic and satisfying — greed rarely ends this well.

11. Ashta Chamma
Lighthearted, fresh, and delightfully funny. A modern classic that mixes urban storytelling with old-school sensibilities. Very few films get romance and comedy right the way this one does.

12, Iddaru Mithrulu
A dual-role drama that tugs at your heart. The contrasting characters, emotional depth, and sharp direction make this one a must-watch..

Hope you like the List!!
